So this is pretty cool. Portland General Electric (PGE to Portlanders) has created some YouTube videos where they do some experiments on potential energy-saving tips. Things from how you should wash your dishes to how much energy you’d save (or waste) by having some of your appliances or electronics plugged in. You can find them at http://switch.portlandgeneral.com/.
Here’s one of the videos they show, talking about the amount of energy you’d save washing dishes by hand versus washing dishes using your dishwasher:
Here’s a good read as the upcoming Presidential election comes around: Seven things that Christians should think about with regards to politics. The two that I found especially good were #5 and #7: “Scripture tells us to pray for our governing leaders (2 Timothy 2:1-4) and to respect those in authority (Romans 13:1-7)” and “Stop saying, ‘This is the most important election in the history of our nation.'”
It’s something worth thinking about.
If you’re a fan of Assassin’s Creed, you might come to appreciate this a little. And if you’re a parkour fan, you’ll appreciate this as well. It’s the same guy that created the video for the largest rope swing.
Here’s a great article from ESPN’s Soccernet with regards to a team from Switzerland, FC Basel, and two of the members of the team: One of them being a South Korean, and the other a North Korean. It’s quite an interesting story, as the politics from their countries do have an impact on their footballing careers. Yet, they still can go above that and work together.
I was kinda saddened to read this article. I was hoping to build a Death Star someday. Oh well, at least there’s still hope for a Star Destroyer. (via Kottke)
Found this video from one of my classmates in my department at UW. It’s a cover for the Beatles song “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” by MercyMe, as well as a few other groups.
The book concept still reminds me kind of the storyline from the Japanese book and movie Battle Royale. Anyway, here’s the trailer for The Hunger Games:
I’ve seen videos like this before. A husky howling to calm down a crying baby. TV shows. And music too… But Biggie Smalls?
This is a great commercial. I couldn’t stop laughing at “Double Mutumbo” and who shows up after the Miami Heat guy says “South Beach is king!”
Here’s a choir using their hands and bodies to emulate a storm. It’s in the first few minutes of this clip:
